Remember when the Phillies were losers of seven straight? Feels like eons ago.

Now they’re on a four-game win streak, having just walked it off for the second time in 24 hours. Last night it was a Jay Bruce 10th inning double, and today the Phils got a three-run homer from Jean Segura after Hector Neris blew a 1-0 lead in the top of the 9th.

That’s the nice thing about baseball, yeah? When you play 162 games you can quickly wipe away unpalatable tastes and replace them with something better, in this case a sweep of the New York Mets, who are spiraling right on down the toilet as of June 27th, 2019.

Aaron Nola looked great today, actually had a no-hitter going through six innings. He went seven strong, giving up one hit, zero runs, one walk, and striking out 10 on 102 pitches. His ERA is now down to 4.22, down from the 4.89 he was living with as recently as two starts ago. He’s looking more like himself out there.

The Phils only got one run prior to Segura and Maikel Franco’s 9th inning homers, which was a Bryce Harper solo shot. But whatever, they got the job done, found a way to win, and are now 4-0 since adding a bamboo plant to the clubhouse. The team appears to be ALL IN on the bamboo, as the stadium guy put it on the scoreboard today, after the jump:

In honor of the bamboo, here’s my Mount Rushmore of plants:

  • Purple Verbena (rugged, grows well in tough environments, like Philadelphia)
  • Yucca (fan of the spiky look)
  • Chinese Evergreen (nice desktop plant with big leaves)
  • Gerber Daisy (good combination of color and green leafy base)

If you have a favorite plant (besides bamboo,) you can join the discussion in the comments section.
