Redskins Release Leading Tackler Mason Foster
Let’s check in on NFC East rival and week one opponent Washington.
Hmm.. looks like a surprise move right before the start of training camp:
Redskins are releasing LB Mason Foster. With the arrival of Jon Bostic, Skins are going to lean on younger guys to fill out roster. @ErinHawksworth first reported.

Foster finished with 131 tackles last year. He was a good run stopper, though not so great in pass coverage, a little slow to read the offense and chase down running backs in the flat.
You might also recall Foster apologized to Redskins supporters after a fan leaked a private Instagram exchange in which the linebacker said, “f*** this team and this fan base,” which you can see again after the jump:
As such, a portion of Washington fans were happy to see him go, including this guy:
Looks like the Skins are going to start Jon Bostic and Shaun-Dion Hamilton at inside linebacker this season with draft pick Cole Holcomb now looking likely to get himself a bunch of snaps. The Birds will open the season against Warshington on September 8th at Lincoln Financial Field.
