Your Philadelphia Union remain tied atop Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference with seven games left to play.

That’s a “big f****** deal,” as Joe Biden once said, because the Union haven’t enjoyed a top-five finish since 2011, when Peter Nowak’s second-year squad ended the year in 3rd place on 48 points.

The team’s 2019 success has resulted in a shift in the Philadelphia sporting landscape, and in a recent conversation with head coach Jim Curtin on 97.5 the Fanatic, Anthony Gargano declared that Philly is now a 5 for 5 sports town.

Listen for yourself:

You know, it’s funny, because I created the ‘four for four,’ and when I did it was just more for, a euphemism for – and this was years ago when I was at the other station – but this was just a euphemism for ‘hometown.’ You guys didn’t even exist. It was a euphemism for ‘hometown.’ It’s amazing, it certainly is five for five now.

Sorry soccer haters.

The Cuz has passed judgment. Philadelphia is now a five for five town. This cannot be disputed.

  1. Imagine how many area parents basements are empty during a Union game…..Not a real team in not a real league of not a real sport.

    1. The Soul play in a league with 6 teams and average 8k attendance, the Union play in a league with 24 teams and average 18k attendance…

  2. I would love to have a beer with the cuz!! One of the few hosts that gets it . Love how he never talks politics or gossip too . Never understood his haters . Love you Cuz !!!

  3. I know this is largely tongue in cheek because Kink’s past of ranting about False 9’s and debating whether the ginger carpets match the Jim Curtain drapes, but let’s not forget that Gargano is doing this to curry favor with Sean McDermott’s brother, who is something or other with the Union.

Not sure what being a Friend of The Union gets you, but that’s what he’s going for.
