Last week we shared a link to Awful Announcing’s 2019 MLB announcer rankings page, where you the fan were able to rate the Phillies television crew.

After 48 hours of voting… the results are in!

And wow, the Phils’ TV team ranked #12 overall, a huge jump from #19 overall last year and their highest score ever.

From Awful Announcing:

Phillies fans sure turned up this year, giving the team their highest score and ranking since we’ve started doing this. Only the Dodgers and Yankees received more total votes, but if ten of those A votes didn’t show up for the Phillies, they would have slipped behind the Cubs and into 13th. Maybe the ranking is a bit high, but the range seems okay to me.

Here’s how the votes panned out, after the jump:

Previous rankings: 26 (2014), 17 (2016), 15 (2017), 19 (2018)
Previous grades: 1.90 (2014), 2.33 (2016), 2.34 (2017), 2.27 (2018)

Most popular grade: A (30.57% of votes)

The Phils got a 2.483 this year, their highest number obviously, which means most people rated them somewhere around an A- or a B+. That doesn’t seem to reflect the comments I read on Facebook or Twitter, where most of the replies went something like this:

“Tom McCarthy sucks and Ben Davis doesn’t know what he’s talking about, yadda yadda yadda.”

Awful Announcing also tallies the totals and puts them into a nice graph format, so here’s where the Phils finished:

The Phillies got 2,970 votes total, which is significantly higher than most of the other MLB teams. 908 people gave the crew an A (30.5%) and 719 people gave them a B (24.2%). For what it’s worth, they did get 390 F votes, which made up 13.1% of the vote.

I’m surprised by these results. Stunned.
