“We’re Gonna Win That Football Game,” Says Doug Pederson of Dallas Trip

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys are losers of three straight games, having fallen to the behemoth known as the New York Jets last night.

So the NFC East winner could be a 9-7 football team come December, and this Sunday’s prime time game down in Jerry World is actually a crucial matchup of 3-3 squads that aren’t as good as we thought they were gonna be this season.

Doug Pederson, then, decided to give Dallas some bulletin board material when he went on Angelo Cataldi’s show and basically guaranteed a win:

Cataldi: Did it help you at all that Dallas lost?

Pederson: Anytime Dallas loses it helps, because here’s the thing, I know the sky is falling outside. It’s falling, and I get that and the fans are reeling just a little bit. We’re going down to Dallas, and our guys are gonna be ready to play. And we’re gonna win that football game and when we do we’re in first place in the NFC East, we control our own destiny, we’re right where we need to be. Has it been perfect or beautiful or all of that? No. But all we gotta do is try to be 1-0 this week, beat the Dallas Cowboys, we’re in first place. And listen, they’re reeling too. They’re struggling too. They dropped their last three games so this will be an exciting football game.

There you have it.

The Philadelphia Eagles are going down to Dallas to win.

Seriously. These are professional football players. No such thing as bulletin board material when you’re being paid millions. So fucking stupid.

That was not bulletin board material. What is a coach supposed to say, we have no shot at winning this game?

The Eagles are lucky the Behemoth Known as the New York Jets didn’t have Sam Darnold or they’d be sitting at 2-4 right now.

Let’s review the Eagles season so far: Needed a comeback to beat the Redskins (arguably the worst team in Football) at home; lost to the Atlanta Falcons and in doing so have so far been the only team to lose to the Falcons; lost to the “meh” Detroit Lions–at home; on a short week beat the Packers giving Carson Wentz his 7th career victory over a team with a winning record; beat the Jets at home who until yesterday were winless; got smoked on both sides of the ball by the Vikings.

Doug Pederson, maybe now isn’t the time to be puffing out your chest an guaranteeing victories.
