Jim Schwartz Must Really Like the Movie "This is Spinal Tap"
Defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz did his media availability outside today, as the Eagles get back to it after the bye week.
The takeaway for me was a comment he made about the injury situation at defensive tackle, where the Eagles remain thin with Malik Jackson and Hassan Ridgeway on the shelf. Timmy Jernigan earlier missed a bunch of time as well:
Eagles DC Jim Schwartz on injuries at defensive tackle: There are drummers from Spinal Tap that would rather be a drummer for Spinal Tap than a defensive tackle for us. #Eagles @CBSPhilly #HelloCleveland

Hah! Perfect. I love a good Spinal Tap reference here.
If you’ve never seen the movie, it’s a satirical take on a fake band that goes through a bunch of different drummers. One spontaneously combusted and another died in a bizarre gardening accident. A third drummer died because he choked on someone else’s vomit.
Thing is, Schwartz has made this joke before. He just used a different scene from the movie, referencing the famous amplifier clip during a 2018 press conference when previewing the Carolina game:
Jim Schwartz on Cam Newton and the Panthers' offense: "Not to go Spinal Tap on you, but they turn their quarterback runs up to 11."

So it’s very clear to me that Jim Schwartz is a big fan of the movie. And as such, I am a big fan of Jim Schwartz.
