The Eagles Are Bringing Back Jordan Matthews for a Third Stint

Worst kept secret in the world, yeah?
Jordan Matthews was in town Tuesday for a physical with the Eagles, and it looks like the deal is complete now:
With #Eagles WR DeSean Jackson on Injured Reserve after surgery, source say Philly is re-signing an old friend: Jordan Matthews is back with the #Eagles.

It was inevitable.
J-Matt is back for a third stint with the Eagles after being cut by the 49ers prior to the season. He previously spent 2014-2016 with the Birds before going to Buffalo in the Ronald Darby trade. He wound up on IR up there, had a brief run in New England, and then found his way back to Philadelphia last year after Mike Wallace went down.
It’s not an exciting move, but Matthews is familiar with the offense and familiar with Carson Wentz. He’s 27 years old and is an upgrade over Mack Hollins, who can go back to being a special teamer or whatever it is he actually wants to do.
Here are Matthews’ career stats if you’d like a refresher:
Kevin has been writing about Philadelphia sports since 2009. He spent seven years in the CBS 3 sports department and started with the Union during the team's 2010 inaugural season. He went to the academic powerhouses of Boyertown High School and West Virginia University. email - k.kinkead@sportradar.com
