A shooting in the stands halted Friday night’s Camden at Pleasantville high school football playoff game. Three people were injured, including a 10-year-old boy who was last listed in critical condition after being taken to Cooper University Hospital with a gunshot wound to his neck. Six people were charged in connection to the shooting, including a 31 year old man, who faces three counts of attempted murder.

This game was the Central Jersey Group 2 semifinal, and it was cut short in the 3rd quarter but will resume tomorrow, Wednesday, at Lincoln Financial Field as announced by the NJ State Interscholastic Athletic Association:

“It’s extremely unfortunate that a senselessly violent act has impacted this game, and there will certainly be a wide range of emotions along both sidelines,” NJSIAA executive director Larry White said in a statement. “However, thanks to the Eagles’ generosity and community spirit, Pleasantville and Camden student-athletes and their families will have an opportunity to write their own ending to this game. They’ll compete on a world-class stage, sending a clear message that violence will not win.”

The game will be played at 4 p.m. and is closed to the general public. Passes will be provided to players’ parents and family members.

Meantime, a GoFundMe was set up for the young boy, Micah, who is in a coma. As of Tuesday morning, $18,000 of the $30,000 goal had been raised and will go towards his medical bills.

Nice gesture by the Eagles to host both teams and see the game to completion.
