I’ve seen some former players chime in on Twitter today, sharing more educated opinions about the Eagles’ loss. More educated than you and I, who are sitting on the couch watching the games.

Jamaal Jackson brought up the play I talked about in this morning’s takeaways column, the Carson Wentz fumble where Andre Dillard and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside actually ran into each other.

Said Jackson:

Another tweet came from former receiver Bryce Treggs, who commented on the 4th and 2 pass that Carson Wentz appeared to throw behind Arcega-Whiteside.

Responding to Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94 WIP, Treggs said this:

Well then, let’s take a look at the play, shall we?

In the clip Eliot shared, you get a good angle from Wentz’s perspective, where we can see JJAW sit down and look to set the target, then move:

Wentz is also pretty flat-footed when he releases that ball. It’s ugly either way you slice it up.

Here’s another angle, which isn’t great, but shows you another view of Wentz’s release and how far JJAW is from the right hash:

You can barely see JJAW coming into the picture at the last minute, but yeah, the hop is there. He gets two hands on it before Shaquill Griffin knocks it loose.

Bryce Treggs played here and knows what he’s talking about, so I’d trust what he has to say. Wentz, of course, didn’t do himself any favors throughout the evening, which leads to more bitching and complaining on social media, sports radio, and whatever other platforms are out there.
