Is there fallout from the hideous Miami loss? A lingering malaise hanging over NovaCare? Will Jeffrey Lurie step in and make his displeasure known?

Here’s a morsel from ESPN’s Chris Mortensen:

Mort report:

“I do know his (Lurie’s) history.  Even when Andy Reid was coaching Philadelphia, he will hold people accountable if you are performing below expectations. Right now the Eagles are performing below expectations. Barring a run in the playoffs, I would say that there is going to be some significant changes on the Philadelphia staff, and I’m not saying Doug Pederson will get fired, but I think there will be some staff changes significantly..”

Interestingly enough, or maybe not at all interesting, Pederson said today at his press conference that no coaching changes will take place. Of course he’s not going to come out and say, “yeah, Mike Groh is gonna get canned in January,” but here’s the question and resulting exchange, for what it’s worth:

Jeff McLane: Will you make any coaching changes this week?

Pederson: No.

McLane: Will you make any personnel changes, in terms of who’s starting somewhere?

Pederson: We’ve got time to deal with that, so obviously we’ll take a look. But as of right now, today, no.

McLane: So you don’t think a shakeup is in order?

Pederson: A shakeup… I know what you’re saying; you’re talking about sending a message, (but) no I don’t. It’s all self-inflicted. It’s all, even the plays (Miami) made, our players were in position to make those plays and they didn’t. They executed and we didn’t. That to me doesn’t deserve any kind of shakeup. It doesn’t.

Who are the candidates for canning anyway? Groh is probably on the list. Jim Schwartz? Carson Walch is the first-year receivers coach, who was promoted from assistant receivers coach in the summer. Dave Fipp has been here for something like 50 years, so he’s probably safe. Jeff Stoutland and Duce Staley ain’t going anywhere.

We shall see!
