Awesome.

I loved the Jimmy Johnson and Bill Cowher videos from the weekend and this one is just as enjoyable:

David Baker:

“The coolest part of my job is I get to talk to men like you. On behalf of all the fans and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, thank you for all you’ve done for this great game. It’s my great privilege to share that you’re going to have a bronze bust in Canton, Ohio.”

Carmichael is an Eagles legend, a guy who you didn’t get to watch live if you’re under the age of 45. He played 13 NFL seasons in Philly, from 1972 to 1983, and caught five passes for 83 yards in the 1981 Super Bowl. He played 180 games for the Eagles, catching 590 passes for 8,985 yards and 79 touchdowns. He was a four-time Pro Bowler and the 1980 NFL Man of the Year, the 1973 receiving yards and total receptions leader, and a member of the Eagles Hall of Fame and 1970s all-decade team.

The defining feature was his height. Carmichael was huge, standing 6’8″, which is unheard of for a receiver these days. My dad and uncles used to talk about him all the time, and when I started watching highlights of his playing days, it’s crazy how much bigger he was than the defenders he played against:

Congrats to Hall of Famer Harold Carmichael. Spend a few minutes on Youtube watching his highlights if you have some free time today.
