Report: Eagles “Parting Ways” With Both Mike Groh and Carson Walch (Update – It’s Official)

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Via Adam Schefter:

(Walch is the WR coach. Schefter missed a word in that tweet.)

Doug said this just yesterday, at the season-ending media availability:

Now that the season is over, how do you assess the job of Offensive Coordinator Mike Groh and Wide Receivers Coach Carson Walch, and do you expect them to be on your staff next year?(Eliot Shorr-Parks)

DOUG PEDERSON: I think both of those guys did an outstanding job for me this year. There were a lot of things we faced on offense as you know, through adversity, through injury, through many different facets of trying to get the pieces together.

So my hat goes off to both of those gentlemen because of the game plans that Mike and I and the offensive staff put together, first of all. Then here towards the end of the season, Carson Walch having a big impact on getting these young players ready to go and to play at a high level. That’s not easy.

For guys to basically come off our practice roster, who were within weeks of being on our roster or being on the practice squad, to be elevated to game status, it’s not easy to do, and these two gentlemen did an outstanding job for me, for the team, and really put us in a position to be in the postseason here at the end of the year.

Q. Will Coach Groh and Coach Walch be back though?(Jeff McLane)

DOUG PEDERSON: Yes, both those guys will be back.

Standing by…

EDIT 1:

Wow, this was botched pretty badly. Read this statement from “Doug Pederson” –

That’s something else.

And look, Groh and Walch didn’t inspire a ton of confidence. Perhaps their firings were very justifiable, but that is a shitty way to go. They get a vote of confidence and then they’re fired 24 hours later. They were done dirty.

    1. J-Boy Jeffy calling the shots again. That clown is clueless. Stick to your embarrassing young wife, fool.

  1. Why is it that this site never gives Gargano the credit he deserves? Cuz went basically perfect on his picks this year. He’s number 1 in the ratings. He’s been calling for Grohs job all season. Cuz is king for a reason. Give him his credit.

  2. The real problem is obviously that loser of a head coach Pederson. He didn’t back his guys up in order to save his job. I disliked Doug and now I hate him.

  3. Groh has links to Alshon from Chicago…that Rat is next,…least we can hope…

Aslo have to move on from the following fat and it will be a decent offseason (in no particular order)

    Alshon
    Nelson
    Darby
    Peters
    McCleod
    Malcom J
    Timmy J
    Mills
    Jordan Howard

Crazy how everyone looks at the last 4 games, like there wasnt something to be said there.

Regardless how you view it even with bad coaching, Dallas is easily a more talented team then the eagles are even at full health.

BUT THE COMMONAILITY IS…majority of these guys dont play, Doug pulls back in Play Calling…and the team fucking wins!

    SHOCKING!

  4. Don’t point out logical fallacies in Kevin’s arguments or else your comments won’t be approved!

  5. Duce 2020!

Seems silly to have had that press conference prior to making these decisions. Doug should have stuck to some stock answer “any coaching changes or adjustments will be made after organizational review and potential coaching changes/hires from other organizations are complete – its too early to say what can and will happen.”

Of course then the media would be complaining about not getting any information.

  6. Oh look, another huge news story without an opinion. Copy and pasted from 400 other sites. Thank you for your service Kevin.

  7. Congratulations, “expert”, i see you selected a picture of Mike groh, for your Mike groh article, as opposed to a picture of Miles Sanders!

That’s some fine attention to detail right there!

    1. I remember in the draft recap for Sanders there was a black and while picture of Miles Davis going to town on his trumpet. What a mixup. To quote our wonderful president: “Sad!”
