Yeah, I couldn’t believe it either.

Rutgers basketball has entered the AP Top 25 for the first time since 1979, ranked 24th after improving to 14-4 with a weekend win against Minnesota:

The Scarlet Knights are currently second in the Big 10 at 5-2, just a game back from Michigan State. They have wins against a ranked Seton Hall, Indiana, and a previously ranked Penn State team. They’ve won ten in a row at home, which means the RAC is a FORTRESS IN 2020.

For context here, you’d have to go back to 2006 to find the last winning Rutgers basketball season. They went 19-14 that year with a win over Louisville and an NIT appearance. The last NCAA tournament berth came way back in 1991, when Bob Wenzel’s team went 19-10 before losing to Arizona State in the first round.

We’ll see what they do against a ranked Iowa team on the road this week, but how about the Knights cracking the top 25? What a time to be alive.
