Unhappy With Reclining, Guy on Airplane Punches Seat of Woman in Front of Him

Here’s the top viral video currently making the rounds.
It shows a guy sitting in the back of an airplane, in a seat that doesn’t recline. The woman in front of him has her seat reclined, and in response he starts punching the back of her seat out of anger and/or frustration and/or discomfort.
She recorded him doing it and now everybody is arguing about it on social media:
This video has the internet legitimately divided .
Dude is in the last seat on the plane. Seat doesn’t recline.
Hers does. And she reclines.
He’s upset, and is punching her seat incessantly— so she records.

The woman wrote this on Twitter:
“Here’s a great jackhole! He was angry that I reclined my seat and punched it about 9 times – HARD, at which point I began videoing him, and he resigned to this behavior. The other jackhole is the @AmericanAir flight attendant who reprimanded me and offered him rum!”
On one side of the argument you’ve got people saying the guy was an ass for punching the seat. On the other side you’ve got folks saying the woman was being inconsiderate for reclining her seat back.
Perhaps the guy could have just politely said, “excuse me, ma’am, do you mind moving your seat up? I don’t have a lot of room back here since I can’t recline my own seat.” And then the pair could have resolved the situation like adults instead of the punching and filming, but that apparently was wishful thinking.
