No more pencils no more books
No more teacher’s dirty looks yeah

Well we got no class
And we got no principals
And we got no innocence
We can’t even think of a word that rhymes
School’s out for summer
School’s out forever

Alice Cooper called it. School is out, at least in Pennsylvania, where Governor Wolf is shutting it down for the rest of the year.

WENY in Harrisburg:

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has made the decision to close all schools in the state for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

….

“We must continue our efforts to mitigate the spread of the virus during this national crisis,” Governor Wolf said. “This was not an easy decision but closing schools until the end of the academic year is in the best interest of our students, school employees and families.”

While schools will remain closed, schools and teachers are strongly encouraged to continue to provide education to students in the most “appropriate and accessible” ways possible.

Seemed inevitable.

It’s a crappy situation for everybody involved. Parents and teachers are trying to do remote learning. Jazz band and theater club and all of that is canceled. If you play a spring sport, that goes down the tubes. Imagine being a senior on the baseball team and now your high school athletic career is over. You don’t get to do it again.

Sad stuff all around.
