I wasn’t going to touch this story today, since we already did two posts on it earlier in the week, but I can’t take my eyes off it. It’s a fascinating train wreck of a situation, and now it’s taken a WILD TURN involving plumbing and, perhaps, sabotage.

Atilis Gym in Bellmawr was set to open again this morning, but they’ve now been ordered to shut down by the New Jersey health department. And somebody stuffed a roll of paper towels in the toilet and flooded the bathroom.

Details via CBS 3:

BELLMAWR, N.J. (CBS) – A New Jersey gym that has been open in defiance of the governor’s stay-at-home order has been shut down by the health department. Signs from state and local health officials were on the doors of Atilis Gym in Bellmawr on Thursday morning.

The owners say their toilets were clogged Wednesday by paper towels and their bathrooms were flooded. They tell Eyewitness News it seems suspicious and they are working on fixing the issue.

The notice of closure was posted on the gym doors Wednesday night.

I’ve got a lot of questions.

Who put the paper towels in the toilet? Did Governor Phil Murphy send in a sleeper agent? Did one of the gym members betray the owners? What other insidious behavior is afoot here?

The interesting thing is that the Atilis owners told Steve Keeley that they don’t even have paper towels in their bathroom, so somebody allegedly brought the roll in FROM OUTSIDE THE GYM and then proceeded to clog.

Atilis posted a follow up on their Instagram page, and they think something fishy is going on:

This is all very suspicious.

One person texted me with a conspiracy of their own –

What if Atilis self-sabotaged and flooded their toilets on purpose? Then they could falsely accuse the state of treachery to build sympathy for their cause and stay in the public spotlight, right?

That’s an interesting thought. Theoretically you could definitely pull an inside job, damage your own gym on purpose, and then turn around and smear the state. Stranger things have happened in this world.

Who the hell knows? I’m just fascinated by this story and can’t wait to see how it concludes.
