This may be the most Staten Island video ever recorded.

Shoppers absolutely berated a woman inside a ShopRite store because she wasn’t wearing a mask, with the footage going up on Facebook and then being shared on Twitter, right here:

CBS News got a statement from the store:

A ShopRite spokesperson told CBS News in a statement Monday that the incident happened two weeks ago and the store management reported it to authorities. ShopRite said customers who notice others that aren’t wearing face coverings should notify customer service and not take the matter into their own hands.

A few thoughts on the video:

  1. I love the thick New York accent around six seconds with the lady saying “get the fuck outta here!“
  2. “You’re a loser, bro” seems out of place, since the person without the mask is a woman.
  3. Calling the person a “dirty ass bitch” was a little unnecessary.
  4. Staten Island is actually conservative, so you’d think more people might be doing the no mask routine. This might be the most shocking part of the entire video, since the assumption would be that pro-mask people are predominantly liberal.

Regardless of your stance on the masks, the screaming and name calling seems like we’re going a little bit overboard. It’s all completely preventable. All you need is somebody at the store entrance politely asking people to wear a mask, as a courtesy to other shoppers, and then you prevent this kind of juvenile shouting match from taking place.
