Give me all of the baseball on this lovely Wednesday afternoon.
Not only does it look like there will be a 2020 season after all, but former Phillies manager Charlie Manuel tweeted out this heartwarming message following a Zoom call with some key members of the 2008 World Series champs:
Zoom reunion w Howard, Lidge, Burrell, Utley, Vic, Billmeyer, Eyre & Werth. Such good stuff! Loved seeing all the guys. I almost cried they said such nice things to me. Very touching. My teams @Phillies the best in my 50+ years in baseball. It’s gonna play on YouTube. pic.twitter.com/St5euMFcZe

Manuel, 76, had been battling health issues in recent months. He had an emergency bowel resection in December following complications from a planned hernia procedure. Manuel spent time in January at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital and had a follow up procedure in early March, so it’s great to see him in good spirits here.
It’s a good news day, guys.
Also, love to see Shane Victorino rocking the seatbelt down there on the bottom right. Safety first.
Surely, there had to be plenty of awesome stories shared on the call. Not sure about the details, but Manuel indicates it will be available for future viewing on YouTube. It should be a solid watch.
On a somewhat related note, Anthony SanFilippo and I recently caught up with another member of the 2008 Phillies in Brett Myers for the latest episode of Crossed Up. Here he is on Game 2 of the 2008 NLDS:
There’s no #Phillies baseball, so let’s go back to better times in a new episode of Crossed Up. Like the time Brett Myers @BackWoodRebel39 got the best of CC Sabathia on the mound and at the plate in the 2008 playoffs. Listen to the full interview.https://t.co/KOMT0F37hE pic.twitter.com/CMtucMBwFT
