Liverpool won the Premier League yesterday. First time they’ve won a top-flight title going back to the 1989-1990 season, when Yugoslavia was still a country.

As you can imagine, fans didn’t exactly care about the Coronavirus as they flocked to their home stadium, Anfield, to celebrate into the night.

Don’t let Kyle see this video:

Perhaps a preview of this summer, when the Flyers win the Stanley Cup and march that bad boy down Broad Street on double-decker buses.

If I had to go out on a limb, I’d say we might be seeing headlines in about 14 days, informing us of a Coronavirus spike in the greater Merseyside area. If Liverpool fans were out in force like this, imagine what the crowd would look like for a Flyers or Sixers title, which hasn’t happened since 1975 and 1983, respectively.

Police comments via ESPN:

Merseyside Police Assistant Chief Constable Rob Carden said most fans had abided by social distancing regulations and chose to mark the event safely.

“Unfortunately, as we have seen throughout the lockdown period, not everyone adhered to the regulations in place,” he added.

“In the days ahead, we urge supporters to do the right thing and celebrate safely with members of your household and in your social bubble.”
