Baseball is finally back, but you won’t be able to watch it in-person down at the yard this season. Sorry.

However, there is some good news. You can still be seen at the park by putting your face on a cardboard cutout for the low, low price of $40 ($25 if you’re a season ticket holder). Before you cry about how this is a scam, hold up, because it’s for a good cause. Net proceeds go to Phillies Charities.

If you’re interested, you can submit a photo and apply to have your face show up at Citizens Bank Park this season. There are some stipulations, however. Among the highlights:

  • You can’t apply for a specific seat or section.
  • Currently, the Phillies can’t tell you where “you” will be placed in the stadium. That could change.
  • The team says it can’t currently return your cutout at the end of the season. That, too, could change.

And, of course, there is this disclaimer from the team:

The Phillies reserve the right to refuse any photos. Images that portray obscene, lewd, explicit, discriminatory, derogatory, violent, offensive, infringing or otherwise inappropriate content are strictly prohibited and will be discarded.

So don’t try anything silly, you crazy Phillies fans. I know you would never.

Also of note, they’re not going for negative references to other MLB teams or fans dressed in another team’s clothing.

Stay out, Mets fans.

The installation of the cardboard cutouts is scheduled to begin early next week, so it’s a safe bet that the process will be done in time for the team’s second homestand which begins on August 7.
