In Statement, Eagles Call DeSean Jackson's Instagram Posts "Offensive, Harmful, and Absolutely Appalling"
From the Birds’ Twitter account:
— Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) July 7, 2020
“We are continuing to evaluate the circumstances and will take appropriate action.”
It’s worth mentioning, since everybody keeps bringing up the Riley Cooper thing, that Michael Vick stood up for Cooper back in the day and asked the Eagles not to cut him. In this day and age, with social and racial issues at the forefront, I don’t think Riley would have survived dropping the N word. He probably would have been released within 24 hours of saying it. We’ll see what happens with DeSean, and if any of his teammates do the same thing for him if there are more calls for the Eagles to cut ties with the veteran receiver.
Update:
Here’s an NFL statement –
NFL statement on #Eagles WR DeSean Jackson:
“DeSean’s comments were highly inappropriate, offensive and divisive and stand in stark contrast to the NFL’s values of respect, equality and inclusion. We have been in contact with the team which is addressing the matter with DeSean.”
