Report: Phillies Visiting Clubhouse Staffer is COVID Positive
More tidbits crossing the timeline on a Tuesday morning.
After multiple reports that no Phillies players or coaches are COVID-19 positive, Bob Nightengale is here with some information on a visiting clubhouse staffer:
There was a #Phillies visiting clubhouse attendant who tested positive, but no Phillies' players, coaches or staff in the test results that have come back this morning. So encouraging news, so far.

These staffers, who were in and around the Marlins’ clubhouse during the weekend series, were quarantined Monday.
Good news though with Nightengale adding another layer of confirmation to the negative status of players and coaches, who should be busing up to New York for Wednesday’s game, which was reported by Jim Salisbury and addressed by manager Joe Girardi on MLB Network Radio:
Joe Girardi told us they are heading in to the park for saliva tests today, and then will get the results back tmrw morning before deciding to bus to NY to play the Yankees @MLBNetworkRadio

Here’s where we are right now:
- tonight’s game postponed
- one visiting clubhouse attendant COVID positive
- zero players/coaches positive
- another saliva test today
- get results and then perhaps get on the bus to the Bronx
Nightengale also reported this, which seems incredibly weird:
Washington #Nats star Juan Soto is getting increasingly frustrated, his teammates say. He has reportedly tested negative six times_three by MLB and three by the team_but has not had back-to-back negative tests, keeping him out of action.

Standing by for more details!
Edit –
Here’s some Girardi audio from the radio hit:
"If this situation [Sunday against the #Marlins] were to happen again, would you feel comfortable taking the field, as a team?"
