2020 sucks.

We lost Kobe Bryant, then got hit with a global pandemic. There are no sports and you have to wear a mask just to buy groceries or get your hair done.

On top of that, Vanilla Ice had to cancel his Fourth of July concert near Austin, Tejas.

Details from CNN:

A rep for the rapper confirmed to CNN Thursday afternoon that at a Fourth of July celebration in Austin, Texas, set for Friday is now off.

“This date has been canceled and will be rescheduled for another time,” the rep said in an email to CNN.

The Independence Day Throwback Beach Party was scheduled at Emerald Point Bar & Grill, which is categorized as a restaurant.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recently ordered that bars reclose in the state because of the increasing numbers of those contracting coronavirus.

84 tickets had been sold for the event, which was taking place at an outdoor spot that reopened in May. The reason it blew up is because Ice, real name Robert Matthew Van Winkle, went on Twitter and said that “we can’t live in a bubble” while asking fans to wear a mask and practice social distancing. That resulted in a big uproar and the event was canned.

He addressed it himself:

Bummer. No sports, no indoor dining, no fucking basketball rims attached to the backboards at Philadelphia rec centers, and now Vanilla Ice has to cancel a gig.

Worst year ever.
