David Robertson Suffers Setback in Rehab
As if this week hasn’t been craptastic enough, here’s another sprinkle of jimmies on the banana split from hell:
Phillies reliever David Robertson had a setback in his rehab from Tommy John surgery, Joe Girardi said. It was already going to be a challenge for Robertson to return in 2020, but that challenge is now even steeper.

Robertson signed a two-year deal with the Phils in 2019, paying him a guaranteed $23 million. His first season was cut short in July, then he had Tommy John surgery in August, which meant he’d likely be out for the entirety of this season as well. There was slight hope he’d be able to come back perhaps in September, but that appears to be out of the question now.
The irony is that he’s been very healthy over the course of his career, having appeared in 60+ games every season dating back to 2010, prior to joining the Phils.
As of right now, he’s pitched 6.2 innings as a Phillie.
