Just like the Phillie Phanatic, Swoop is gonna have to take a backseat this year. He/she won’t be allowed on the field, and will have to stay in the stands, which we think will be empty, at least in Philadelphia and Washington.

Sideline reporters also won’t be on the sidelines, according to Tom Pelissero:

Ah that’s a bummer. We will have to live without the halftime interview with the coach, who is interrupted while jogging off the field.

Something like this:

Sideline reporter: Coach, you guys started well and then gave up a touchdown in the second quarter. What are your thoughts on the first half?

Coach: Well, we’ve shown good energy and intensity so far. We just have to keep up that energy and intensity in the third quarter.

Sideline reporter: What do you tell your team at halftime?

Coach: I’d tell them that we’re not out of this game. It’s a game of two halves. We need to come out and roll our sleeves up and play our game and we can’t worry about what the other team is doing.

Really scintillating stuff. We’re gonna miss these enlightening conversations in 2020.
