Phillies Get David Hale in Trade With Yankees
BLOCKBUSTER MOVE!
Sike.
Minor move for the Phillies here, who sent right hander Addison Russ to the New York Yankees and got David Hale in return:
Veteran right-hander David Hale, who was DFA'd by the Yankees earlier in the week, is headed back to the Phillies in the trade for Addison Russ, sources tell ESPN. @MattGelb was on it.

So… it seems as though the Phils gave up a 25 year old who struck out 81 batters last season in Reading, for a 32-year-old veteran who pitched six innings this year. They need bullpen help in any way, shape, or form, and I guess this meets the low bar for criteria.
Bob’s take:
Hale is by no means is a stud reliever, but instantly becomes one of the most reliable arms in a train wreck bullpen. There’s no downside in taking a shot on him. He utilizes four pitches, but is primary a fastball/changeup guy who tops out in the low 90s.
Veteran journeyman. Fringe move. As long as Addison Russ doesn’t become the next Sandy Koufax, then we’re good.
Happy Friday.
