Sources tell Crossing Broad that NBC Sports Philadelphia is laying off 17 employees as part of the round of national cuts taking place this week.

Earlier today it was confirmed that Phillies broadcaster Gregg Murphy, NBC Sports Philly Director of Communications Maureen Quilter, and former The 700 Level founder Enrico Campitelli were part of the cuts. A web writer covering one of the teams is also part of that group.* Eagles writers Reuben Frank and Dave Zangaro are safe and will remain with the network.

Additionally, we’re being told that NBC regional networks will be doing away with sideline reporters entirely, once the current basketball and hockey seasons are over. As such, Serena Winters and Taryn Hatcher will finish out their respective duties with the station before moving on to new roles or new jobs entirely. It’s possible that one or both will see out their contract. (edit for clarification: Hatcher, we’re told, is not technically a “sideline reporter” per her contract, but a source explained that the network is moving away from in-game reporting that takes place outside of the broadcast booth)

As far as other on-air talent goes, longtime Eagles insider Derrick Gunn is out, according to four sources we spoke with. Al Morganti, we are also told, will no longer be part of Flyers broadcasts, while Michael Barkann’s future seems to be up in the air at the moment.

We’ll update with more information as it becomes available.
