On Saturday night, the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Islanders meet in Game 7 of their second-round series with a trip to the Eastern Conference Final on the line. Let’s get into our Flyers-Islanders betting preview, including odds, boosts, and picks.

Flyers vs. Islanders Betting Preview

Prior to the start of this series between the Flyers and Islanders, we predicted a lengthy series with the potential of going the distance to a decisive Game 7.

To determine where this is heading, it’s important to review how we got here.

Following a 4-0 blowout loss in Game 1, the Flyers answered back with a 4-3 overtime win, the first of their three victories to come via overtime. Philadelphia’s Game 2 win appeared to balance the scale and made an eventual Game 7 appear to be an inevitability.

Two games later, the Flyers were on the brink of elimination having dropped consecutive games for the first time since January 7. That long series we expected appeared to be a distant memory.

That was until the Flyers went back to the overtime well in back-to-back games -including a double OT thriller in Game 6- winning both and leveling the series at three games apiece.

The Flyers will likely be without Sean Couturier again in Game 7 after the forward suffered a knee injury near the end of the second period in Game 5.

Bets We Like With a Flyers Win

Money Puck gives the Flyers a 50.6% chance of winning Game 7, which represents a 5.5% uptick versus ahead of Game 6. The Flyers’ implied win probability, based on the moneyline, is 46.5%, representing a drop of 0.2% from before Game 6. Money Puck’s model and the oddsmakers’ prediction hasn’t been on the opposite side of the result in quite a few games. Only one will be right.

Flyers Win and Over 5 Total Goals (+310, DraftKings)

Given that the Flyers’ three wins have all come via overtime with the Over hitting, it stands to reason that the Flyers and Islanders could very well end up playing longer than the 60 minutes of regulation time.

Thus far in the series, the under has hit twice, the over has hit three times, and there’s been a push on total goals one time.  While ten of the Flyer’s past 14 games have gone under the total goals threshold, the under hasn’t hit in four of the last five games between the teams, including the past three games.

The higher-scoring affairs that have happened over that stretch are more in line with what we saw in three regular season matchups in which the teams combined for nearly eight goals per game.

Since 2000, there have been 13 teams who have come back from a 3-1 or 3-0 deficit to win the series. The Flyers will look to become #14.

If you like the Flyers to win, parlay it with the over.

Flyers to Win in Overtime (+800, FOX Bet)

If parlaying with the over makes you nervous and you think there’s a shot this game is a low-scoring defensive battle, consider this bet. The Flyers have won all three of their games in overtime and have been absolutely dominant in three of the nearly four overtime periods played in the series.

Bets We Like With an Islanders Win

Islanders to Win and Under 5 Goals (+245, DraftKings)

While the Flyers’ recipe to success has been higher-scoring affairs coming in overtime, the opposite has been true for the Islanders. In New York’s three victories in this series, the under has hit twice and the O/U has been a push once.

New York has won six of nine games between the teams this season and 11-of-18 matchups dating back to February 2017. The Islanders’ stingy defensive system has limited the Flyers’ chances on goal, though netminder Semyon Varlamov has been shaky at times throughout the series, allowing a few goals he’d like to have back.

Still, coming back from a 3-1 deficit doesn’t happen often and the Islanders should once again benefit from the likely absence of Sean Couturier.

If you think the Islanders will win, get better value by parlaying it with Under 5 goals.

Bets We Like Independent of Outcome

Double Your Money – Philadelphia Flyers to Score a Goal (+100, FOX Bet)

This is about as close to a surefire bet as it gets. The Flyers haven’t been shut out since Game 1 and have averaged 3.2 goals per game in each of the five games since. A $10 max bet will net you $20.

Anders Lee to Score a Goal (+240, FOX Bet)

Anders Lee has been a thorn in the Flyers’ side this series and has found the back of the net in four games, including the first three games of the series and in regulation of a double OT loss in Game 6. Without Sean Couturier in the lineup, Lee will have more room to operate and be found in advantageous positions to score.

Flyers vs. Islanders Prediction

Pick: Game 7s are nearly impossible to predict. If the mantra of regular season games being less than a true indicator of how a playoff series will go, Game 7s are historically even more of a guessing game. We’d lean on the side of staying out of the outcome of the game and look to make your money via props. Take the Flyers to score a goal and Anders Lee to do the same for the Islanders. If you’re a Flyers fan afraid of the O/U, consider taking a flier on Philadelphia to win in OT.
