Congrats to Philadelphia Union manager Jim Curtin, who was named Major League Soccer’s Coach of the Year.

Curtin guided the Union to a record of 14 wins, four losses, and five draws, which ended up being the best record among all 26 clubs during this pandemic-shortened season. The Union scored 44 goals, allowed a league-low 20, and won the Supporter’s Shield with the best regular season record and points-per-game total, adding the first piece of silverware to a trophy case that had stood empty since the club was founded in 2008.

Jim ran away with the voting, which was a combination effort from players, other clubs, and the media. He took 33% of the player vote, 53% of the club vote, and 44% of the media vote to finish at 43% overall, winding up 20 percentage points above runner up Oscar Pareja.

Also, Andre Blake won Goalkeeper of the Year for a second time, following up and perhaps eclipsing his stellar 2016 campaign. This time, he took 44% of the total vote in a contest that wasn’t remotely close, beating out second place Matt Turner by 30 percentage points.

Blake finished the season with 63 saves on 81 shots over the course of 21 games. His save percentage of 77.8 was second in the league for goalkeepers who played more than 15 games.
