The Philadelphia Flyers head up to Boston on Thursday evening to battle with the Bruins in an Eastern Division clash.

Let’s dive into this showdown from a betting perspective in our Flyers vs. Bruins betting preview with odds, picks and predictions.

Flyers vs. Bruins Betting Preview

The Boston Bruins return home after a tough 1-1-1 road trip which saw them split a pair of games against the New Jersey Devils, with both going into overtime. On Monday, they suffered a 1-0 loss against the New York Islanders with the only goal coming with less than five minutes left in regulation.

Philadelphia skates into town winners of three of their first four games on the season. After back-to-back wins over Pittsburgh, the Flyers suffered a 6-1 drubbing by the Buffalo Sabres, but bounced back on Tuesday with a 3-0 shutout victory in the rematch. Backup goaltender Brian Elliott made 40 saves in that contest.

Flyers vs. Bruins Odds

Here are the lines for Flyers vs. Bruins at DraftKings Sportsbook PA:

Spread: Flyers (+1.5 -245); Bruins (-1.5 +200)
Moneyline: Flyers (+112); Bruins (-129)
Over/Under: Over 5.5 (+105)/Under 5.5 (-127)

Bets We Like With a Flyers Win

Flyers 1st Period Money-Line (+105, BetMGM)

When Philly gets off to a hot start, like they did in their pair of wins over Pittsburgh, they usually keep that energy flowing throughout the contest en route to victory. It’s important for these top two forward lines to use their size and physical nature to get in position against a Bruins defense that has only looked sharp due to the opponents they’ve faced (Devils & Islanders).

Moreover, they could be shorthanded with key defenseman Matt Grzelcyk suffering an injury on Monday against.

I expect the Flyers to end the opening frame with a lead.

Bets We Like With an Bruins Win

Jack Studnicka to Score a Goal Anytime (+315, DraftKings)

The 21-year old Canadian rookie will be playing just his fifth NHL game ever on Thursday night. Playing alongside Nick Ritchie and David Krejci, look for the speedy second round draft pick to get some good chances on net as he looks to get his first career goal. The Bruins need to get their secondary scoring in motion if they want to win this contest at home.

Bets We Like Independent of the Outcome

Full Game UNDER 5.5 Goals (-125, FanDuel)

Despite missing key pieces from previous seasons like Zdeno Chara and Torey Krug, this Bruins defense has held clubs to two goals or fewer in all three contests thus far, with goaltenders Tuukka Rask and Jaroslav Halak making a total of 70 saves on 75 shots faced in that span.

Philadelphia is one of the best defensive teams in all of the NHL, and with a strong goaltender like Carter Hart, goals won’t come easy for the B’s in this contest. The under has cashed in 7 of the last 10 meetings between these two squads and I expect a slower pace in this affair as well. Look for Hart to rebound following an uncharacteristically poor performance earlier on Monday night.

Flyers vs. Bruins Prediction

These are two clubs that are responsible on the back-end and can hit some cold spells when it comes to scoring, especially for the Bruins, who are dearly missing David Pastrnak at the top of their lineup. I like Philadelphia here on the road to pick up a close 3-2 victory, potentially in overtime.
