Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley reportedly told the Eagles he wasn’t interested in becoming their head coach.

This comes from a Paul Domowitch article in the Inquirer, that begins as such:

“In a perfect world, the Eagles’ third head-coaching search in eight years would’ve taken about five minutes.

A phone call to Norman, Okla., to gauge Lincoln Riley’s interest in the job. A positive response by Riley, and just like that, the Eagles lock up the hottest young coach in college football.

Except this isn’t a perfect world and that’s not how it went. Riley told the Eagles he wasn’t interested in the Eagles job. And he hasn’t been the only one to tell them that.”

Domo also writes that the Eagles asked Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley for an interview, but he didn’t even entertain the cross-country trip and took the Chargers job instead.

There are some good nuggets in there about Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce Staley and Josh McDaniels, and Carson Wentz, too. The gist seems to be that Duce felt like the Eagles babied Carson, and would be harder on him as the head coach. That could be a good thing or bad thing, depending on how Jeffrey Lurie and Howie Roseman feel about the QB situation. The rumor floating around is that they would prefer to bring in a coach who can fix Wentz, instead of trading him or going to Jalen Hurts instead.

The Eagles coaching search, it continues.
