Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today, which means we’re in for another six weeks of winter. It may actually never stop snowing. We’re on day three of this current winter storm and unless you’re lucky enough to be in the southern portion of the Delaware Valley, you’re probably looking outside at a foot or more.

Phil needs to read the room. We don’t need a weather prediction at this moment. I agree with Bill Murray, playing the role of TV weatherman Phil Connors in the 1993 film Groundhog Day, who said this:

Phil Connors:

“This is pitiful. A thousand people freezing their butts off waiting to worship a rat. What a hype. Groundhog Day used to mean something in this town. They used to pull the hog out, and they used to eat it. You’re hypocrites, all of ya! You got a problem with what I’m saying, Larry? Untie your tongue and you come out and talk, huh? Am I upsetting you, princess? You know you want a prediction about the weather, you’re asking the wrong Phil. I’ll give you a winter prediction. It’s gonna be cold, it’s gonna be gray, and it’s gonna last you the rest of your life.”

Great film. It would probably go on my Mount Rushmore of Bill Murray movies, along with Lost in Translation, What About Bob?, and Stripes. I’d have Caddyshack at #5 overall. There are so many good ones to choose from. Might have to do a full listicle at some point.
