Remember when Lane Johnson jumped all over the Patriots when he said playing there wasn’t fun? That they were a “fear-based organization?” That was a juicy topic and got us a lot of pageviews after Super Bowl 52. Here was a beloved Philadelphia Eagle shitting all over New England.

That said, one of the somewhat lame things that’s taking place this year is people trying to judge the Pats based on one year of separation between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. It’s pretty well understood that he’s a great coach and Brady is a great quarterback, but it hasn’t stopped media pundits from trying to figure out “who was responsible” for all of their success over the years, as if one season, played during a global pandemic, is the ultimate indicator.

But every once in a while, somebody says something worth listening to, and in this case, it’s former Patriot Danny Amendola, who said this on First Things First:

Damn that was saucy. Love it.

Amendola is qualified to speak on this, obviously. He played there five seasons and won two Super Bowls. He would know better than anybody. And certainly we can’t pass judgement on Belichick after one year with a lesser squad featuring a subpar Cam Newton, but we do know for certain that Brady is the goat, because he finds himself in the Super Bowl at age 43 with a different team.
