Flyers Practice Cancelled, Per NHL Advisement

It’s hard to get a read on whether this is just another precaution, or if it’s a sign of news to come when the NHL drops their COVID Protocol list after 5PM, but the NHL has advised the Flyers to cancel practice today:

Over the weekend, defenseman Travis Sanheim -who was the first Flyer placed on COVID Protocol ahead of the team’s game against Washington last Sunday- came off the list, while Travis Konecny was the lone new addition. As of Monday morning, the Flyers’ list of players on the NHL Protocol list still stands at seven:

  • Claude Giroux
  • Justin Braun
  • Jakub Voracek
  • Morgan Frost
  • Scott Laughton
  • Oskar Lindblom
  • Travis Konecny

Per the team, the NHL has given the greenlight for the team to resume their practice schedule on Tuesday. They’re still slated to play on Thursday against the Rangers before traveling to Lake Tahoe to take on the Boston Bruins. As has been written on this site multiple times, it seems inconceivable the Flyers will participate in the game at Lake Tahoe if the COVID Protocol list continues to grow.

Then again, this is why teams have a taxi squad. We’ll provide updates as they become available.
