On Monday night, the Philadelphia 76ers are on the road taking on the Utah Jazz for a 9:10 PM ET tipoff. The Sixers (18-9) enter play as the top team in the Eastern Conference despite suffering consecutive road losses at the hands of the Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns. Their hosts from Utah (22-5) are the team with the best record in the competitive Western Conference and feature the best record in the NBA.

The Sixers have dropped their last two games -at Portland and Phoenix- and will look to right the ship against the Utah Jazz. MVP candidate Joel Embiid has held up his end of the deal, racking up high-scoring performance after high-scoring performance. His 29.6 points per game places him third in the NBA in scoring, behind only Bradley Beal (32.9) and Stephen Curry (29.9).

The Jazz have established themselves as an NBA powerhouse, putting together the league’s best record in a tougher Western Conference. They’ve won seven consecutive games, the last three of which have come at home against the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, and Miami Heat. The Jazz will be without starting guard Mike Conley four a fourth consecutive game due to injury, but they’ve proven able to beat some of the Eastern Conference’s best squads of late.

Bets We Like With a Sixers Win

FiveThirtyEight gives the Sixers just a 28% chance of winning with a -6 point line. Philadelphia’s implied win probability based on the moneyline is a woeful 29%.

Sixers to Win and Over 226 Points (+525, DraftKings)

To be clear, this game is one that we expect to go in Utah’s favor, especially if Joel Embiid is downgraded from questionable to out. However, if the Sixers are to win, they’ll need Embiid in the lineup, which means we’ll continue to buy the Sixers’ scoring trend as of late.

The Sixers have seen the total go over 226 points in five of their last six games:

The lone exception to that six-game stretch was a February 4 meeting with a shorthanded Portland Trail Blazers squad that combined with the Sixers for 226 total points on the dot.

If Embiid plays, expect another combined 45+ points from him and Tobias Harris, with Ben Simmons looking to keep his early aggressive play going.

Bets We Like With a Jazz Win

Jazz to Win and Over 226 Points (+160, FanDuel)

Taking the Jazz to win is the smart play in this one, especially with Joel Embiid’s status for the game still up in the air as of Monday afternoon. This will mark the Jazz’ fourth consecutive game without Mike Conley, who’s been vital to their success thus far this season. Despite his absence, Utah has gone 3-0 over that stretch, all in games at Vivint Arena. The Jazz are 18-1 over their last 19 games and it appears they’ll keep it going tonight.

Donovan Mitchell has seen an uptick in scoring over his last five games and Rudy Gobert has been dominant in the paint on both sides of the ball. Interestingly enough, Gobert has also had plenty of success in his career against the Sixers, especially in the teams’ past three meetings over the last couple of seasons.

Utah has absolutely dominated Eastern Conference opponents, going 7-0 in their last seven games, all of which have come against teams from the East. Taking a look at the Jazz’ last five games will show a team that’s seen the total points go over the threshold three times. As we outlined in the Sixers bet above -which we don’t recommend- the Sixers have seen the total points scored hit at least 226 points in each of their last seven games.

Donovan Mitchell to Score 25+ Points (-200, FanDuel)

Most sportsbooks are offering Donovan Mitchell’s total points over/under at 27.5 ahead of this contest with the Sixers. FanDuel Sportsbook is no different, offering the over at -104 odds. However, we’d recommend hedging a bit with Mitchell to score 25+ points at -200 odds. He’s scored at least 26 points in five consecutive games and has only cleared the 27.5 twice over that timeframe. That might lead one to believe that taking Mitchell to score under 27.5 points at -116 odds. However, keep in mind he’s only failed to score at least 25 points once in the month of February, a month in which he’s cleared that threshold six times in seven games.

With Mike Conley out again, expect Mitchell to get plenty of looks, especially from deep where he’s hitting 40.6% of his three-point attempts on just over nine shots from beyond the arc per game in February.

Rudy Gobert Over 27.5 Points and Rebounds Combined (-115, BetMGM)

This could seem a bit ambitious on the surface, especially given the possibility that Jazz center Rudy Gobert will be matched up against MVP candidate Joel Embiid. However, it’s worth noting that Embiid is still listed as questionable as of Monday afternoon, which could make this an easily more attainable goal for Gobert. That said, in two matchups against Embiid a season ago, Gobert more than held his own. In Utah’s 106-104 victory on November 6, 2019, Gobert racked up 14 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in 36:08 of game time. He was even more impressive in the Jazz’ 103-94 loss in Philadelphia, when he dropped 27 points and recorded 12 rebounds in 36:27 of action. Going back to the 2018-19 season, Gobert had a 17 point, 15 rebound game against Embiid on December 27, 2018.

Recently, Rudy Gobert has been a menace in the paint. He’s cleared the 27.5 points and rebounds mark in each of his last four games. He averaged 19.3 points and 13 rebounds per game over that stretch. It stands to reason that Gobert can clear this threshold once again, whether Embiid is in the lineup for Philadelphia or not.

Sixers vs. Jazz Prediction
