Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni continues to flesh out his coaching staff, and we’ve two more nuggets on a snowy Monday.

First up, it’s Houston sports director Mark Berman, who says Cougars CB coach Jay Valai will join the Birds:

Valai played at Wisconsin from 2006 to 2010. He was a senior on the 2010 team that went 11-2 and made it to the Rose Bowl.

Professionally, he was most recently at Texas, but was not retained by Steve Sarkisian following Tom Herman’s departure. He originally linked up with Dana Holgorsen in Houston but decided to come to Philadelphia instead. Previously, Valai had stops at Rutgers, UGA, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Second up is Geoff Mosher, one half of the quality Inside the Birds pod, with this report:

Moorehead joined the Birds’ staff last year, replacing Carson Walch, who famously once said this about Mack Hollins:

“Yes, he does not have the catches. But at the end of the day when Mack Hollins grades out for us, he’s one of our top graders every week because he aligns right, he assigns right, and he plays with great effort. We believe when the ball comes Mack’s way he’s going to make the play for us.”

Hmm, yeah.

Anyway, it’s good to have continuity at this spot. Plus, Nick Sirianni was a receivers coach in San Diego, so they’ll have plenty of focus on the position. A healthy Jalen Reagor in year two will help make any coach look good, and maybe Howie Roseman stumbles ass backwards into Ja’Marr Chase or DeVonta Smith at #6 overall.

The Birds’ coaching staff now looks something like this (non-confirmed reports included) –

  • Head coach: Nick Sirianni
  • Offensive coordinator: Shane Steichen
  • Defensive coordinator: Jonathan Gannon
  • Special teams coordinator: Michael Clay
  • Quarterbacks coach: Brian Johnson

  • Tight ends: Jason Michael
  • O-line: Jeff Stoutland (retained)
  • D-line: Tracy Rocker
  • DBs: Dennard Wilson
  • CBs: Jay Valai
