Backup goalie Brian Elliott was strong in relief, stopping both shots in the shootout as the Flyers won 5-4. Elliott then got the start on Thursday against Washington, allowing four goals on 21 shots. Despite that shaky performance, Elliott will once again get the start in net for the Orange & Black in tonight’s game.

Washington has won three consecutive games, including a 5-4 OT win against the New Jersey Devils sandwiched between the wins over the Flyers. In Thursday night’s game, Nic Dowd found the back of the net twice, while Alexander Ovechkin kept up his goalscoring ways against the team from the City of Brotherly Love. The Caps’ three-game winning streak has vaulted Washington to a 16-6-4 record, good for the second seed in the East Division.
