They had lost just one game in regulation to a team not named the Boston Bruins. Philadelphia has two more games this week against the Caps, but first they have to get through tonight’s matchup with the Buffalo Sabres.

The Buffalo Sabres are in the midst of a horrible season, including the fewest points in the league. Buffalo is 0-6-1 in their last seven games, a stretch that included consecutive 3-0 shutout losses to the same Philadelphia Flyers squad they’ll face tonight. To the Sabres’ credit, they’ve been consistent, scoring two goals per game in each of their last four games, all of which have come on the road. Tonight’s game marks the end of their five-game road trip that started exactly a week ago.
