Crisis averted. Word from the 76ers this morning is Joel Embiid did not suffer a serious injury during last night’s game against the Wizards after awkwardly landing on his left knee after a dunk.

According to the team, Embiid suffered a left knee bone bruise, but no structural damage was revealed from an MRI. He will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

It’s truly the best-case scenario for Embiid and the 76ers, as his left knee clearly hyperextended upon landing. Embiid was able to walk off the court on his own power, but so did Carson Wentz in 2017 and we all remember what happened there.

The Sixers next play on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. against the San Antonio Spurs. They are scheduled to play eight games in the next 14 days.
