Sixers vs. Hawks Game 6 Prediction
You can make an easy argument for either team in this coin flip of a game. Either Philly responds with pride after blowing back-to-back huge leads, proving their worth as the East’s top seed, or the Sixers lay down. If they do, it’s likely the humiliation of a blowing two massive leads was too much to overcome.
We don’t want to be involved in that portion of the game, but we do believe that Game 6 will prove a high intensity war between two desperate and hungry teams. This should play like a Game 7 in terms of focus, as Philly knows there is no tomorrow without a victory and Atlanta is aware that having to head back to Philadelphia for a Game 7 could certainly spell their doom. The Hawks will have the added advantage of being able to play loose here, as they are at home as underdogs and playing with house money. They will be able to take some chances and shoot some shots that Philadelphia would have to think twice about and that could open this game up.

In an elimination game, you can be sure that the trailing team will do whatever is within their power to extend the game and give itself a chance to win. We saw it halfway through the second quarter of Game 5, in fact, when Atlanta started intentionally fouling Ben Simmons because they were down 20+ points.
An abundance of foul shooting is certainly a possibility throughout in this one with Philadelphia and Atlanta ranking second and fourth in the NBA in foul shot attempts per game this season. In fact, Embiid and Young ranked first and third in the league in foul shots attempted per game, respectively, combining for over 19 free tries per game. Young attempted 19 and Embiid 14 in Game 5 alone. That’s a ton of free points toward our total from two excellent foul shooters with no time coming off the clock.

Philly has been an under team on the road this season, but the Sixers did play both of their first road games away over the number in these playoffs directly after a home game, dropping 132 and 127 points themselves in those two outings.
Seven of the last 10 meetings between these two teams have seen at least one of the teams score 118 points or more. If that holds true tonight and the other team cannot muster 104 points, we were barking up the wrong tree here in the first place.
Philadelphia has scored less than 104 points in just 15 of its 82 games this season (18.3%), including just once in its last 12. Atlanta has tallied 103 points or less just 16 times in its 82 games this year (19.5%) and hasn’t done so in a home loss since Feb. 4.
The Hawks have played 21 of their last 27 games over as home dogs. They have also played eight of their last 11 over at home against teams with above .500 road records. And from the oddity department, Philly has played six of its last eight games over on one day of rest, while the Hawks have played nine of their last 10 Friday games over the number.
Game 6 Betting Pick
This one promises to be a wire-to-wire fight and it wouldn’t shock us to get the added benefit of overtime here, although we don’t expect to need it. Enjoy what we believe might be one of the best played games of the playoffs thus far as the Sixers and Hawks make it nine games over the total in the last 12 head-to-head meetings in Atlanta.
Our Pick: Phi/Atl Over 221 (DraftKings Sportsbook -112)
