Sixers Had to Bus Back to Philadelphia After Plane Broke Down

From Pat Gallen via John Clark:
A team source confirms to @CBSPhilly that the Sixers plane did break down and they had to bus back overnight (as tweeted by @JClarkNBCS first). Still waiting to hear from the team about media availability today.

2.5 hour bus ride. Not horrible. If this was Milwaukee or Miami or whatever they’d have to be stuck there until they could arrange another charter flight.
The real question is: what happened? Did a Wizards fan sabotage the plane? And why fly back and forth anyway?
The short answer, I think, is that it’s just easier to do that. It’s a 30 minute flight. You take a train and you’ve got to go through Amtrak and deal with COVID protocol and blah blah blah, so if you can cut through all of that extraneous stuff and just control the travel yourself, then you take the short plane ride instead. I believe that’s the thinking that informs these types of decisions but I will “effort” more information, as they say.
Either way, they’re home and get the day off before Game Three tomorrow.
