Allen Iverson Getting Into the Cannabis Game
IF you’ve always wanted Allen Iverson to have his own marijuana strain, then congrats, today is your day.
From Pat Ralph at Philly Voice:
Iverson has entered into a multi-year partnership with Viola Brands, a cannabis company started in 2011 by former NBA player and New Jersey native Al Harrington.
…
The Answer will assist with the company’s business initiatives, such as producing exclusive merchandise in addition to cannabis and non-cannabis products. Iverson will also join Harrington and Viola in their ongoing efforts to educate the NBA and others on the benefits of cannabis and help change the stigma around professional athletes and marijuana.
The highlight of the partnership is The Iverson Collection, a series of cannabis strains that will be rolled out across markets in which Viola operates. The strain will debut in California this October, but it likely won’t be available to Sixers fans in the Philly region.
We’re gonna have to go out to the West Coast to get that Allen Iverson sweet cheebah. The Maui Wowie.
I think this is a great idea, though, and they should roll out a full branding initiative inspired by the classic movie Half Baked. Iverson and Harrington will make appearances with Dave Chappelle, who will reprise his role as Sir Smoke-a-Lot. They will perform classic musical tracks, like “Samson Gets me Lifted” and lobby our stuffy and boring east coast politicians to legalize weed. Then we’ll all do hits from the bong with Cypress Hill and go on a food run. We’ll get some sour cream and onion chips with some dip, man, some beef jerky, some peanut butter. Get some Häagen-Dazs ice cream bars, a whole lot, make sure chocolate, gotta have chocolate, man. Some popcorn, red popcorn, graham crackers, graham crackers with marshmallows, the little marshmallows and little chocolate bars and we can make s’mores, man. Also, celery, grape jelly, Cap’n Crunch with the little Crunch berries, pizzas. We need two big pizzas, man, everything on ’em, with water, whole lotta water, and…. Funyuns.
