Yandle played for AV in New York. Two seasons he spent with the Rangers, though he’s more known for his 7.5 years in Arizona and recent five-year stint with the Florida Panthers.

He’ll turn 35 in September but is still putting up points as a veteran lefty defenseman. Dude never misses a game. Anthony notes that he’s 44 games short of setting the all-time record for most consecutive games played.

From Russ:

“Keith Yandle is far from the player who put up 56 and 62-point seasons in back-to-back years for  the Panthers, but he fills the ‘offensive-minded’ defenseman gap created by the trade of Shayne Gostisbehere. It’s a low-risk signing that brings real value to the Flyers’ D-corps and takes a ton of pressure off Cam York, who could still make the roster out of training camp. He also brings some PP value, racking up 18 power play points in 56 games a year ago.”

Like the move? Love the move? Hate the move? It’s another veteran dude and former letter-wearer who might be able to reshape the “leadership” group that Chuck Fletcher was talking about after the draft.
