Jack Fritz Does the Impossible, Runs a Sub-Eight Minute Mile
94 WIP runs some pretty good bits these days, outside of “Once and For All Week,” which ended up being kind of lame. They spent five full days supposedly putting a number of classic topics “to bed,” only for callers to bring them up again the following Monday.
But this was a strong one. Producer Jack Fritz, a baseball guy, attempting to run an eight-minute mile in the scorching Philly heat. They really could not have picked a worse time to send Jack out there to complete the task. They sent him out this afternoon with Scott Franzke and Larry Andersen on the call, and this was the result:
Do you believe in miracles?! A new world record!
Love it. Franzke and LA can call anything and make it entertaining. I found myself laughing out loud throughout the entire final minute of that clip.
And what a feat of athleticism from Jack. Holy cow! You’d have to put that 7:52 mile right up there with Khabib’s 29-0 MMA record. With Kobe’s 81-point game. With Steffi Graf spending 377 weeks as the world #1.
Let’s give Jack Fritz a roaring round of applause:
