This Super Bowl Halftime Show is Basically the "Up in Smoke" Tour on Steroids
Back in the year 2000, before smart phones and Twitter and all of that crap, Dr. Dre toured North America with Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Ice Cube, Xzibit, and a bunch of other people. It was a hip hop super tour at the time, and it came to the Spectrum in July of that year.
Fast forward 22 years and I had to do a double take, because the headliners of that tour are going to be doing the Super Bowl halftime show:
BREAKING: Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar will perform at the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show. The game is scheduled for Feb. 13 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. https://t.co/96FCOZvPkq

Dr. Dre? Snoop? Eminem? Kendrick Lamar? MARY J BLIGE? This is, by far, the best Super Bowl halftime lineup in a long time. Don’t get me wrong; Shakira and J Lo killed it, and Beyonce is Beyonce, but this is a “who’s who” of some of the greatest hip hop guys of all time, with one of the greatest R&B singers thrown in there. And they’ll bring out all sorts of guests, of course. They should bring out Wu Tang and do a DMX tribute. All of the white kids from Boyertown who pretended they were black will be glued to their televisions in February of 2022, and I don’t blame them, because this lineup is awesome.
No, this will not be a “family friendly” affair, and I’m sure the FCC will get three bazillion emails, like they always do, but who cares. This is Dre, Snoop, and Em. Reunited.
