Mets Giving Max Scherzer a Seismic Deal

Max Scherzer during a "sticky substance" search

National League East news:

That’s HUGE money for the 37 year old Scherzer, so obviously Steve Cohen and the Mets are going all in. You’re talking about a 1-2 punch of Scherzer and Jacob deGrom in that rotation, which you’d probably say is the best starting pair in Major League Baseball.

Health is gonna be the biggest concern here. It’s a beefy deal for a guy who will be 40 at the end of it. But Scherzer has been really good against the Phillies for a long time now, and outside of a grand total of two months, it looks like we’re gonna get almost a full decade of him in the division.

Mets make a splash. Dave Dombrowski and John Middleton, you’re up.
