We’re wrapping up 2021 and moving into 2022. Hopefully less Coronavirus in 2022 and more peace, love, and harmony. More parking lot beers and less arguing on Twitter.

Our friends at DraftKings released some information with interesting trends and other factoids, and one of the intriguing tidbits is that the Philadelphia 76ers were the most bet on team by handle in the entirety of Pennsylvania, per this chart:

The Phillies rank 8th in Pennsylvania, but interestingly enough, the Steelers and Eagles don’t even crack the top 10. No Pirates, no Penn State, no Penguins, no Flyers, no Union, etc. The Sixers took home the top spot, then a hodge podge of NFL teams and the two NBA title contenders.

In New Jersey, the Sixers ended up 8th, while the other nine teams weren’t local.

I also find it interesting that Iowa football ranked #1 in Iowa, but West Virginia football didn’t even rank in WV. And in Indiana, the Pacers and Colts aren’t on the list. I guess it shows that legal sports betting isn’t necessarily a hyper-local  kind of thing, and people are putting larger amounts of money on national teams playing in big games. Super Bowl, World Series, Lakers, Warriors, Yankees, etc.
