Josina Anderson had it first:

Hey listen, credit to Josina on this one. She had it. She’s still a royal pain in the ass and Chris Long does not trust her, but she had Gannon before anybody else.

So no head coaching gig for J.G., which seemed a little crazy, right? Guy was a first time defensive coordinator in 2021. Was he really going to get the Texans gig after one season? It would have been no less than stunning if he pulled it off.

Seems like Birds fans were not super-enamored with Gannon this year. It’s perhaps notable that there isn’t anybody out there saying “phew, I’m glad he’s not going to Houston.” Right? His defense played really well against crap quarterbacks, but struggled against good quarterbacks. Breaking news. Good QBs are harder to stop than shite QBs. Maybe people just felt a little unconvinced, because outside of perhaps the San Fran game, there wasn’t a comprehensive defensive performance against a playoff team. Either way, we’re gonna see what Gannon can do in year #2 with better talent and a full year of experience under his belt. That should be intriguing to behold.

As it stands, only the Texans and Saints have head coach openings. Lovie Smith is being connected to the Houston job. The others are all filled. Brian Daboll went to the Giants, Matt Eberflus to the Bears, Nathaniel Hackett to the Broncos, Josh McDaniels to the Raiders, Kevin O’Connell to the Vikings, and Doug P to the Jag-wires.
