Guy Running the PPA Gets Canned
We’ll get it back to Ben Simmons momentarily, but first some breaking news in the great city of Philadelphia:
JUST IN: The Philadelphia Parking Authority has abruptly fired Executive Director Scott Petri. His dismissal comes less than a month after City Council passed a resolution to investigate the PPA's finances. https://t.co/VNZtH9E2Ob

Problems with the PPA? You don’t say!
(City Council) said the investigation is linked to a $34 million secret fund PPA established to pay retiree health benefits. It’s not clear, however, if that’s what prompted Petri’s firing.
Petri, an attorney from Bucks County, replaced former PPA Director Vince Fenerty Jr. in 2017 after two sexual harassment scandals led to his resignation.
In a statement, PPA said this was a “personal matter,” and General Counsel Dennis Weldon will “step in and assume the responsibilities of the Executive Director.”
As you know, the Commonwealth runs the PPA, so it’s not even in city control. It’s long past time to transfer full control of the PPA to people who actually live in Philadelphia and serve Philadelphia. Not the Sheetz eaters. Then, we’ll recoup all of the money the Parking Authority stole from us over the years, be it from fugazi tickets or other such bullshit. They are the absolute worst.
