Dan Baker Throwing Out First Pitch at Phillies Opener to Celebrate 50th Season
“PLEASE RISE AS WE HONOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”
1000% you read that in Dan Baker’s voice because you’ve heard it your whole life. The longest-tenured public address announcer in MLB will throw out the first pitch on Friday and also kicked cancer’s ass last year because he’s #TempleTuff. The weather doesn’t officially break until you hear Dan Baker’s voice piping out of CBP.
Here he is announcing the 2008 Phillies lineup on the 10th anniversary season of the World Series title:

How long until we get Dan Baker on the Wall of Fame? The guy has been announcing the starting lineup since Mike Schmidt was 22 years old. He’s announced five World Series, two All-Star Games, and even Eagles games up until 2014. He’s a Hall of Famer in character too:
It was fun to spend some time with Dan Baker upon his return to the microphone at Citizens Bank Park. It's been even cooler to hear stories from readers like this one: https://t.co/PCn2HTJjLJ pic.twitter.com/L7RhCqi2ah
